SUNSET RESIDENCE

The owners had been living for decades in the original house perched on a cliff overlooking the hills west of Austin. Unfortunately the house had to go - the owners needed a mostly single-story house and they wanted to capitalize on the views. Our design solution was to create a see-through house, without sacrificing privacy, while reflecting the mid-century context of the neighborhood. Public rooms are organized into a grouping that focuses views towards the rear of the house. The primary bedroom has back-of-house access to the laundry room and a home gym. The single pitch roof design was chosen to facilitate a future solar array facing south.
